Despite the fact that it hasn’t been published since 1995 my favorite magazine is still OMNI. 

In case you are too busy to click the link (which directs you to the Wikipedia article) I’ll break it down for you. OMNI was the perfect blend of cutting edge science and speculative science fiction. Imagine if Asimov’s Science Fiction and Wired had a baby at the plant where Playboy was printed.

Yes, it was that good.

But its quality as a publisher of science fiction and science fact is almost beside the point. What set OMNI apart in my mind from most other magazines I’ve enjoyed is the AWESOMELY TRIPPY ARTWORK. Not before or since has a magazine featured more consistently mind-bending, gorgeously-rendered sci-fi imagery. 

To all the great artists that have contributed to OMNI throughout its publication I am immensely grateful. May their work be appreciated not only in the present, but many years from now in that far-off future so many of them fearlessly dreamt of and joyously explored on the canvas.
